The assessment system changed completely this year. We have moved away from 'levels' (L 4, 5 or 6) and pupils are now assessed against 'age-related expectations'. If a child meets these expectations they have achieved the 'expected standard'. Some children might demonstrate a higher level of performance. This is referred to as achieving a 'higher standard'. All children are also allocated a 'progress score'. This calculation is based on their attainment in Year 2 (end of KS1) compared to how well they did in Year 6.
